Visual deception

Leandro Erlich – Argentine artist constructed a realistic full-size pool, complete with all its trappings, including a deck and a ladder set within 2 floors. When approached from the first floor, visitors are confronted with a surreal scene: People, fully clothed, can be seen standing, walking, and breathing beneath the surface of the water. It is only when visitors enter and view the piece from the bottom floor that they recognize that the pool is empty, its construction a visual trick. A large, continuous piece of acrylic spans the pool and suspends water above it, creating the illusion of a standard swimming pool that is both disorienting and humorous.

Recycle and Reassemble

Old, broken typewriters are recycled into full-scale anatomically correct figures. Totally free of solder, weld, or glue the process is entirely cold assembly and no other part is added that did not come from a typewriter.

Having an active recycling policy can really bring new back from the old.

The Art of Drawing Animals

I love wildlife and have a particular fondness for the hare. For a recent birthday I was given a beautiful picture of a hare by the extremely talented artist Nolon Stacey. A self-taught pencil artist who specialises in wildlife drawing, Nolon has had no formal art training, and has developed his skills over many years. His keen eye and detailed realism bring each beautiful drawing to life. My limited edition print of Hare – On the Lookout has pride of place in my living room where I can appreciate its beauty everyday. Check out his work at www.nolonstacey.com
