The First Baby Born in Leeds 2012 was...

…Charlotte Abigail Bentley

For those of you familiar with ICM you may have noticed that I haven’t been around much for the last few months. If you saw our Christmas card pictures from last year you may guess why.

With a due date of Christmas day I waddled off on Maternity leave at the beginning of December much to the relief of Richard and Andy that were a touch fed up of me moaning about how uncomfortable I was. As was my husband by that point.

Christmas day came and went without me touching one drop of alcohol, one bite of duck and orange pate or even a nibble of blue cheese. But of course, a week later on New Years eve, things started to move. At 6pm we braved the roads full of taxis full of party goers ready for a night dancing in Leeds.

Charlie was born at St James Hospital in Leeds at 12:17 am New Years day just as the fireworks over Leeds were finishing. We got a great view of them from the delivery suite. The midwives went off to call the LGI and the home birth midwives to confirm that Charlie was the first.

I am glad Charlie wasn’t born Christmas day and when she grows up she will be happy that she can always go out for her birthday. But not until she is at least 25 of course.

Creativity runs in the family

I am so pleased to announce the Daily Mirror’s overall winner of their recent Top of the Plots competition for BEST FRONT GARDEN is…

…Patricia Stogdale! Also known as Maria’s mum.

Together with Diarmuid Gavin The Mirror scoured the country for the UK’s best gardeners and found some real gems, but Pat’s was considered the best over hundreds of entries. Pat sent in some sensational pictures of her garden in full bloom but also a before picture that would make many people half her age shudder (Pat is 72. I’m sure she won’t mind me saying). Diarmuid said “A designer might run a million miles from the plot”.

Pat describes her garden as “a maze of nooks and crannies with stone animals peeping out.”

Diarmuid said, “So not only is it the winner of Best Front Garden but for its love, passion, colour, vibrancy, humour and seasonal performances, it’s our Garden of the Year.”

If you want to see all the other gardens have a look at the full article.

Well done Pat it’s a well deserved win.
And if you ever fancy a real challenge pop over to my house whenever you li…
