the power of your voice.....

can now be used (if you have an iphone) to do searches on them. Google has come up with the free application which can be downloaded to your iphone. It uses voice recognition technology to allow the user to search for contacts in their phonebook and to find where the nearest italian restaurant is, all they need to do is talk to their iphone. Amazing all I need now is an iphone!

Do people really want voice-recognition on their mobile devices? Was it Samsung that did it before with their voice-directed dialing?
Great, you too can look like a berk whilst standing on the train shouting 'Mum' ten times with a slightly different inflection each time, only to have the phone sit there and refuse to call your mother.

Now you can shout at your iPhone in the middle of a busy town centre... Gap! Gaaap! Where's Gap??!!

It would seem it only likes an American-English accent:
