Warning

I was watching the tv last night, and saw a new ad for Will Smith’s new film, Seven Pounds. “Ooo,” thunk I. “That looks ok.”

Then I noticed the little disclaimer thing – you know the one – it usually says something like “Contains scenes of moderate violence” or some such. Well this one said “Contains emotionally intense scenes.”

Say what?

That’s worthy of a warning? Are Hollywood now so worried about being sued that they feel the need to warn you that you might make your make-up run? I go to the cinema to have a bit of escapism – I want it to be intense. Surely any film worth watching should have at least a couple of “emotionally intense” scenes? What on earth are the going to start writing on the box for The Green Mile?

They should have a warning on films that people in the movie cry - that always makes me sob. I cried in Scrubs the other day and American Wife Swap.

In our house it would be: Warning - this film will require tea, cakes, biscuits, tissues, several breaks, plot explanation updates, and a note for me to watch it again on my own sometime!

Seriously Tasha, American Wife Swap?!?

Well then, all the Disney movies are going to be nothing but disclaimers. Especially Bambie! That film is emotionally disturbing in many ways.

Oh dear Tasha!! And Richard, I hope Nikki reads this
