Fish gotta swim

I’m doing a bit of reading around evolution at the moment, so I was looking a fish last night. We all know about at least some of the cool things they’ve evolved to do – glow in the dark, anti-freeze blood, that kind of thing. But did you know that there’s a fish that walks?

It’s a member of the Lophiiformes (anglerfishes) family, which includes deep sea anglers (like the one in Finding Nemo). Also known as frogfish, they don’t swim – they ‘walk’ along the sea bed.

Here’s a site dedicated to them. Enjoy!

That is by far the scariest part of finding Nemo.

The walking fish is pretty cool too!
