The IMDB for live music

After reading this article on the Guardian website today I was intrigued and I wanted to find out more about this new site.

The Internet Movie Database is the place for film buffs to go and get information about their favourite films or actors. For live music lovers there is now a website where you can go and find artists/bands past gig archive, along with pictures and videos, find other people who were at the same gigs and look for upcoming gigs in your current location. The founders of Songkick have spent the few years collecting tour dates and built this website, now with the help of its users this can grow into a website to share videos, posters, old tickets and set lists of many past live concerts and festivals. Songkick allows its users to track their favourite bands/artists so they can see where there upcoming gigs will be held and if they want to go can users the chance to compare prices and buy tickets.

This can grow into a huge website where users can relive past concerts they went to, bringing back happy memories. Songkick also allows its users to upload their Last FM profiles onto their accounts. The bands/artists featured on Songbird will benefit as it will allow users to track their events and hopefully buy tickets. They are also receiving extra promotion for free! This can hopefully be another platform to help up and coming bands/artists too.
