Music Happens Here

Today is one of those days when I wish my journey to work was longer.
Last night I purchased ‘Music Happens Here’, produced by Leeds College of Music, and I listened to it for the first time this morning on an otherwise gloomy drive.
Prior to this morning I would dread my younger hipper friends and family asking ‘So what are you listening to at the moment Lou?’. ‘What are you reading?’ is a good conversation opener with me but unless you want a reply such as ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ or ‘Robbie Williams’ please don’t ask me about music!
HOWEVER I am now happy to sit and chat about new talent in music, and proud to say I’m supporting local musicians.

Music Happens Here is a new album released by Leeds College of Music which offers listeners a snapshot of the fresh, diverse and current sound coming from students at the College.
Drawing on their performance, composition and production talents, and in collaboration with industry experts, this compilation album offers a stepping stone to get their music to a wider audience and move their careers on to the next level.
There’s a whole range of music on the album, with some tones of Jamie Cullen, Air and Pulp coming though on some of the tracks. My personal favourites are ‘You’re not so special now’ by Seb Forest and ‘Divinity’ by Matt Belmont. Yoruba and ‘Trabalenguas’ launched me into work at 8.30am this morning in a tigger like fashion!
I am no music critic so wont say any more except…
